OAKS, Pearl S. Oaks

(Abstracted from the Madison Enterprise-Recorder Newspaper, Madison, Florida, October 18, 1963)

Mrs. Pearl S. Oaks, 59, of Tallahassee, died Saturday at the Isle of Rest Convalescent Home in Monticello following an extended

illness. She was born in Lee and had lived in Tallahassee and vicinity the past 15 years. She was a former clerk with the Florida

Motor Vehicle Commission. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Culley’s Funeral Home with burial in Bristol Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Brian M. Stanfill, of Tallahassee; and Neil M. Stanfill, of Roanoke, VA; four daughters, Mrs. John Brelsford, of Terre Hill, PA; Mrs. Jack Walthall and Mrs. Carl Thompson, both of Tallahassee; and Mrs. Leo Clark, of Omaha, NE; her mother, Mrs. O. O. Mickler, of Madison; two brothers, Fred Mickler, of Madison; and Albert Mickler, of Lee;

and fourteen grandchildren.

OATES, Elizabeth Louise Jackson Oates (Abstracted from the Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home, Thomasville, Georgia) Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Oates died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at Archbold Medical Center. She was born Dec. 7, 1914, in Mitchell County, a daughter of the late Barry Franklin Jackson and Georgia Pearl West. On June 7, 1942, in Cairo, she married Thomas Eugene “Gene” Oates, who died Dec. 11, 1992. Mrs. Oates was a homemaker. She attended Trinity Baptist Church. She is survived by daughters, Jan Jones (Dan), Thomasville, June Cochran (Roger), Boston, Tommie Oates, Thomasville; grandchildren, Chris Jones (Kathy), Robin Worrell (Dave), Frankie Gibbs (Todd); great-grandchildren, Jessi Jones, Eden Jones, Tim Sherrod, Britanny Sherrod, Krysten Sherrod, Taylor Sherrod, Ryan Sherrod, Nicholas Sherrod, Jared Gibbs, Conner Gibbs; adopted daughter, Wonnie Ogletree; a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Oates was preceded in death by a grandson, Richie Jones;

sisters, brother, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southwest Georgia.

O’BANION, Agneta Kjellin O’Banion (Abstracted from the 27 May 2015 Waycross, GA Journal Herald Newspaper) Agneta Kjellin O’Banion, age 67, of Waycross, died Sunday (May 24, 2015) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross after an extended illness. She was born in Stockholm, Sweden to the late Erik and Friedeborg Kjellin. She moved to Waycross in 1969 and then lived in Tampa, FL and Offerman and moved back to Sweden in 1982. In 1990 she moved back to Waycross. She was a member of University Boulevard Church of God and a homemaker. She loved animals, specifically cats and dogs. Survivors include 2 sons, Eric O’Banion, of Jacksonville, FL, Michael (Chessica) O’Banion, of Odum; 2 grandchildren, Chrissie O’Banion and Mariana O’Banion; special son, David Grandy, of Jacksonville, FL; American mother, Adeline O’Banion, of Offerman. A funeral will be Thursday at University Boulevard Church of God. Burial will follow in Offerman Cemetery. Miles-Odum Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

O’BERRY, Carrie O’Berry (Abstracted from the September 5, 2013 Waycross (GA) Journal Herald Newspaper) Carrie O’Berry, 74, died Tuesday (Sept. 3, 2013) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick following a short illness. She was a native of Ware County who lived in Camden County for the past 35 years. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Melanie Ann O’Berry, and her parents, James Manning Davis and Fannie Missouri Douglas Davis. She was a member of Atkinson Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Randall Coleman O’Berry (wife Lola), of Hilliard, FL; 3 grandchildren, Kayla Lane (husband Chet), Cole O’Berry, George Register (wife Kaylin); 3 great-grandchildren, Kammie and Layla Lane, Allie Register; 2 sisters, Laila Jones, of Brunswick, Judy Deen (husband James), of White Oak; 3 brothers, Ronnie Davis (wife Hilda), of Waycross, Clayton Davis (wife Betty Gail), of Millwood, Johnny Davis (wife Jeanette), of Blackshear; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held Friday at Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Friendship Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

O’BERRY, Donnie O’Berry (Abstracted from the September 22, 2014 Waycross, GA Journal Herald Newspaper) Donnie “Ricky” O’Berry, age 54, died Sunday (Sept. 21, 2014) at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. He owned and operated O’Berry Electric, and was a member of Swamp Road Baptist Church.

He was the son of the late Willie O’Berry and Mary Spikes O’Berry. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis O’Berry and Johnny O’Berry. Survivors include his wife, Lorrie Chancey O’Berry, of Waycross; 3 children, Mindy (Chris) Wilson, of Blackshear, Elizabeth (Stanley) Davis, of Waycross, and Heather O’Berry, of Waycross; 6 grandchildren, Nicholas, Joshua, Christopher, Tristan, Micalah and Kaitlyn; 3 sisters, Jean O’Berry and Faye Rowell, both of Bickley, and Christine Finch, of Wassaw, FL; 3 brothers, Ronnie O’Berry, of Bickley, Ray and Junior O’Berry, both of Waycross; his “Mom,” Mary Chancey, of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held Monday at Swamp Road Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Music Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

O’BERRY, Elaine Grace Myers O’Berry (Abstracted from the September 5, 2013 Waycross (GA) Journal Herald Newspaper) Elaine Grace “Myers” O’Berry, 75, of South Carolina, passed away Monday (Sept. 2, 2013) after an extended illness. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, and was preceded in death by her parents, a son and a daughter. She was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith. She is survived by her husband, Shelton K. O’Berry, of Roundo, SC; 2 sons, Thomas Mahoney Jr. and Chris Mahoney, both of Pennsylvania; 2 step-daughters, Deloris Peek, of South Carolina, and Cindy Allsbrooks, of Augusta; 2 stepsons, James O’Berry, of Raybon, and Lee O’Berry, of Lulaton; several grandchildren; 1 brother, Robert “Bob” Myers, of Hatsfield, PA; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. A funeral will be held Thursday at Frye Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Hortense Cemetery in Hortense. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.





O’BERRY, Geneva D. O'Berry (Abstracted by courtesy of the Waycross Journal Herald January 23, 2006) Geneva Willa Deen O'Berry, 71, passed away early Sunday (Jan. 22, 2006) morning at her residence following a lengthy illness. A native of Pierce County, she had lived in Ware County for the last three-and-a-half years. She was a housewife and was a member of the Sweat Memorial Baptist Church. Mrs. O'Berry was a daughter of the late Harvey Lee and Myrtice Ida Carter Deen and was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas "Tom" O'Berry, and a daughter, Diane Pritchett. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda Sinclair, of Blackshear, and Faye and Donnie Laughinghouse, of Waycross; one sister, Gladys "Varrie" Lewis, of Brunswick; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Eddie and Dlaine, of Hazlehurst, and Jimmy and Evangeline Deen, of Alabama; five grandchildren, Leslie Lastinger, Adam (Brandy) Hardee, Jamie (Amanda) Sinclair, Patrick (Donnette) Hardee and Michael Hendricks; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. A funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 11 at the Pearson-Treadwell Chapel. Memorialization will be by cremation. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. O’BERRY, Linda Nell Scott O'Berry (Abstracted by courtesy of the Waycross Journal Herald December 12, 2006) Linda Nell Scott O'Berry, 60, beloved wife, mother and friend, passed away Sunday (Dec. 10, 2006) at Kinder Hospital in Green Cove Springs, Fla. after a brief illness. She was a native of Camden County where she resided until the time of her death. A grandson, Jeremy O'Berry preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Simon O'Berry, of Kingsland; four sons, Tommy O'Berry (Angie) and Dale O'Berry, both of Kingsland, Joe Bo O'Berry, of Colesburg, and Pete O'Berry (Cindy), of Folkston; three daughters, Odessa Byrd and Felicia Spencer, both of Kingsland, and Nell McNabb (Foster), of Waynesville; six sisters, Ouida Griffin, of Homerville, Virginia Kahelly and Barbara McGuire, both of Baxley, Louise Moore, of Waycross, and Mary Scott and Marie Scott, both of Hazlehurst; one brother, Ricky Scott, of Waycross; 28 grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 at Edo Miller Camden Chapel. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with Joe McSwain officiating. Burial will be at Millwood Cemetery at 3 p.m. Edo Miller Camden Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

O’BERRY, Marie O’Berry (Abstracted from the 16 February 2016 Waycross, GA Journal Herald Newspaper) Marie O’Berry, age 54, passed away Sunday (Feb. 14, 2016) at Mayo Clinic Health System following an extended illness. She was born and raised in Ware County, the daughter of Jack Taylor and Laverne Hall Taylor. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Edgar Whittaker. She loved things of old, things with history. It reminded her of a kinder time of life, a time of life where family was all you had and all you needed. She was a private person keeping her family close. Some of her favorite times were spent in God’s beautiful nature in the mountains of Tennessee. At her request she will be cremated and a private service will be held at a later date in her favorite spot in the Tennessee Mountains. Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Danny O’Berry of Waycross; 2 daughters, Danielle O’Berry of Waycross, and Ariel O’Berry of Waycross; her mother, Laverne Hall Taylor of Waycross; her father, Jack (Jeanette) Taylor of Waycross; 2 sisters, Diane (Dinnie) Harden of Waycross and Betty Taylor of Blackshear; her grandmother, Lena Corbitt Whittaker of Waycross; and her loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

O’BERRY, Marsha Gail O’Berry (Abstracted from the 19 October 2015 Waycross, GA Journal Herald Newspaper) Marsha Gail O’Berry, age 61, died Friday (Oct. 16, 2015) at St. Vincent’s Medical Center Riverside in Jacksonville, FL after an extended illness. She was a native of Alma who lived most of her life in Waycross. In 2011, she retired from Satilla Regional Medical Center as a LPN. She was a member of Swamp Road Baptist Church. She is the daughter of the late B.B. Tanner.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Junior O’Berry of Waycross; 1 daughter, Stacey Marie O’Berry of Waycross; her mother, Betty Jean Waters Tanner of Waycross; 1 brother, David Tanner of Waycross; 2 sisters, Wanda Joiner of Waycross, and Sandra Miles of Brantley County; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral was to be Monday at Swamp Road Baptist Church. Burial was to follow in the church cemetery. Music Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

O’BRIANT, Dorothy Kirk O’Briant (Abstracted by courtesy of the Waycross Journal Herald June 15, 2012) Dorothy Kirk O’Briant, 95, formerly of Waycross, died Thursday morning (June 14, 2012) at Spring Arbor, of Rocky Mount, NC, following an extended illness. She was born in Montgomery, AL, to the late William Fred West and the late Lizzie Kirkpatrick West. She made Waycross her home since June 1, 1974, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Waycross. After the death of her husband, John Melvin O’Briant, in 2005, she returned to Rocky Mount, NC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marguerite West. She is survived by her son, Michael K. O’Briant (Windy); a granddaughter, Ashleigh Elizabeth O’Briant; and one great-grandson, Johnny O’Briant, all of Rocky Mount, NC. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at Greenlawn Mausoleum. Miles-Odum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

O’BRIEN, Charles Clement O’Brien (Abstracted from the Lanier County Advocate August 22nd, 2012) Charles Clement O’Brien, 80, of Naylor, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2012 at his residence. He was born on June 20, 1932 in Lanier County, GA to the late Ben and Ruby (Hotchkiss) O’Brien. He was a farmer. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Royal) O’Brien. He is survived by his daughter Sylvia O’Brien of Lakeland; granddaughter Michelle Stone (John) of Lakeland; great-grandchildren Lindsay Stone and John Michael Stone; and brother and sister-in-law, Pat O’Brien (Frances) of Waycross. Funeral services will be Sunday, August 19, 2012 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in Burnt Church Cemetery. Music Funeral Services of Lakeland is serving the family.

O’BRIEN, Richard John O’Brien (Abstracted from the Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home, Thomasville, Georgia, October 12, 2013) Services for Richard John O’Brien, Cartersville, formerly of Thomasville, are Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Trinity Anglican Church. Interment is at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. O’Brien died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at Townsend Park Health and Rehab in Cartersville. He was born Aug. 2, 1932, in Chicago, IL, a son of the late John Leo O’Brien and Mildred Pauline Novotny O’Brien.

He was married for 49 years to Jane Frances O’Brien. She preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 2008. He and his wife were former owners of The Design Center in Thomasville. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of Trinity Anglican Church. He is survived by 1 daughter, Jeanne Schroeder (Mark), of Tallahassee, FL; 1 son, Richard O’Brien II (Michelle), of Cartersville, GA; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Bankston (Jeremy), of Pinellas Park, FL; Alex Shroeder, of Thomasville; Augie O’Brien and Collin O’Brien, both of Cartersville, GA; 1 great-grandchild, Rebecca Bankston; 1 sister, Jacqueline White (Stan), of Cumming, GA; and 2 nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cub Scout Pack No. 15, 814 W. Avenue, Cartersville, GA 30120.
